Shelter

Funded through donations our annual "ARMON" Awards dinner in April. Project Manager -16 hrs./ month

WITH NEARELY A DECADE OF EXPERIENCE ArtFlow brings their skillset, archiving and cataloging with artists and collectors into the non-profit landscape with Arts Rescue Mission. We understand the urgent need to support visual artists and collectors, especially those in their later years, as they work to preserve the legacy, value, and integrity of a lifetime of creative work. This is also the objective of the objectives of our GIFTING program

We are looking (09-15-2025) for a volunteer or volunteers to put in about 4 hours a week for this program. This will be a paid position as we move forward with our grant writing, and donations. If you are interested please contact us! artsrescue2025@gmail.com or signup here.

SHELTER Is funded through our annual "ARMON AWARDS" dinner and donations. Funds raised through ARM’s annual ARMOND Awards, along with year-round donations earmarked for our SHELTER program, help subsidize housing and storage for these artists.

Each year, the ARMOND Awards celebrate outstanding contributors across the full spectrum of the creative arts. Final award recipients are selected by our Board of Governors, with nomination categories guided by recommendations from our Advisory Board.

ARMON awards Will be selected by our Board of Governors and presented to visual artists, musicians, songwriters, writers, chefs, and Substack authors. We also take this occasion to honor the memory of co-founder Gertrude Barnstone, whose vision continues to guide our mission. What is an ARMON award?

Throughout the year, we raise and collect funds in amounts of $3,000 and $5,000, which are recommended to our Executive Board for distribution by our Board of Governors. This is not an application-based program. Many artists, particularly those in crisis or later in life, are not in a position to navigate complex grant processes.

Fortunately, there are several outstanding organizations in Houston and across Texas that specialize in grant-based artist support and serve our creative communities generously and effectively.

Our approach is different. As part of our outreach model, our Advisory Council, comprised of artists, collectors, curators, and professionals across the state, identifies urgent needs and opportunities aligned with our mission. They make recommendations to our Board of Governors, who vote to release funds directly.
